Queen pays touching tribute to beloved Prince Philip as she visits Royal Navy carrier

The Queen paired up a military-style cashmere coat and crepe wool hat with the Scarab Brooch, a present Prince Philip gave her in 1966. Her Majesty has donned the jewel piece on several occasions since but her visit to HMS Queen Elizabeth marked the first time the brooch made an appearance since the Duke of Edinburgh died in early April. Footage from the visit to Porstmouth, her first outside of London in a few months, showed the Queen speaking with members of the ship’s company.

Daily Express Royal Correspondent Richard Palmer wrote on Twitter: “The Queen is visiting the aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth.

“She’s wearing wears a brick red cashmere coat and a crepe wool dress by Stewart Parvin, a Rachel Trevor Morgan hat, and the Scarab Brooch – a gift from the Duke of Edinburgh.”
