Meghan and Harry put wedding guests in awkward position
Prince Harry on ‘healing journey’ as he promotes Invictus Games
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed at Windsor in 2018 during a ceremony well-attended by many A-list names. However, it has now been revealed that the California-based couple broke with a major wedding tradition – much to the frustration of their guests. ITV royal editor Chris Ship noted that the Sussexes’ wedding invited only one half of several married couples.
This meant that not every married guest was able to bring their spouse as their plus one.
It is typically a common courtesy to invite both members of a married couple.
Chris Ship suggested that “space was limited in St George’s Chapel” as the reason behind the move.
He tweeted: “Unlike most other weddings, Harry and Meghan are inviting only one half of couples.”

Mr Ship continued: “Seen an invite for a husband but not his wife.
“Sounds a bit tight, but I’m sure they’d claim space is limited in St George’s Chapel.”
Millions of people tuned in to watch the eagerly-anticipated ceremony, with thousands of fans lining the streets in Windsor.
However, only six hundred people were able to attend to event and the subsequent lunchtime reception.

The ceremony was followed by an intimate evening event hosted by King Charles at Frogmore House with just 200 guests in attendance.
This comes as the couple recently squashed speculation about their relationship.
The collapse of the Sussexes’ Spotify deal and a backlash over their Netflix documentary had prompted claims that it had taken a toll on their marriage.
However, the Duke and Duchess were spotted celebrating Meghan’s 42nd birthday in Montecito, California, where they live with their two children, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two.
