More than half of over-50s claim they are friskier now more than ever before. And 53 has emerged as the exact age people feel hottest.

Celebritiess Tess Daly, Jennifer Aniston, Hugh Jackman and Gillian Anderson have all hit the magic number.

Four in 10 respondents said they were more comfortable in their own skin and confident about their looks at 53.

And, when it comes to dating, almost a fifth reckon it is more exciting in their fifties than when they were meeting people in their youth.

A quarter of over-50s said their relationships and love life became more exciting after hitting their half century.

Rachel Peru, of dating service Ourtime, which carried out the poll, said: “You gain more confidence as you get older and understand what you want from a relationship.”
