Camilla favourite to judge on Strictly Come Dancing – ‘fan’ Duchess praised for ‘keen eye’

Camilla has attracted the attention of the head judge of the popular dancing show, who said she would love to see the Duchess of Cornwall by her side on the next edition of Strictly. Writing in her Hello! magazine column, Ballas answered the question “if you could choose anyone to be a guest judge on Strictly who would it be and why”?

She said: “It would have to be The Duchess of Cornwall because she is an avid fan of the show, she’s followed it from the beginning, she’s intelligent and she obviously has a keen eye.

“I think it would be nice if she could step in for a week!”

Camilla has even mentioned the show during a speech in early September.

Attending the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the British Dance Council, the Duchess said: “I wish I was as good as all of you, I have a granddaughter who is passionate about [dancing], maybe you will see her one day dancing at Strictly.”

During the night, Camilla was spotted dancing with professional ballroom dancer Len Goodman.

The Duchess attended the event in London as the president of the Royal Osteoporosis Society, in a bid to highlight what an important activity dancing can be to keep bones healthy.

Camilla isn’t the only royal believed to be in love with both Strictly and dancing.

Prince William recently revealed that his wife Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, is a “huge” fan of the show.

Attending a gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of homeless charity Centrepoint in November, the Duke of Cambridge met Ballas and Claudia Winkleman.

Asked by Winkleman whether he watches the show, William said: “I have watched the show a couple of times.

“Catherine is a huge fan.”

The Duke added Kate shares her love for Strictly with her mother Carole Middleton.

He added: “My mother-in-law loves it.”

Another royal who has recently hit the dance floor is Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

In October, Prince Edward’s wife sent Twitter into meltdown after Buckingham Palace shared a video of Sophie dancing the waltz in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom – the same location hosting every year one episode of Strictly.

Footage shared showed the 54-year-old Countess timidly remaining on the sideline of the ballroom during the first few seconds.

However, she quickly gained confidence and, after nodding at her dancing partner, she joined other couples on the dance floor.

The palace wrote: “It was an exciting moment inside the Tower Ballroom as

The Countess of Wessex stepped onto the dance floor to showcase her moves!

“HRH danced the waltz, alongside couples who regularly take part in lessons at the Ballroom.”

The Countess is such a fan of Strictly she even attended one episode as part of the audience with her daughter Lady Louise.

Presenter Tess Daly said the visit was a birthday treat for Louise, who just turned 15.

She told Hello! magazine: “Lady Louise was celebrating turning 15 and she said it was a treat to come and visit the show.

“She’s a big fan, herself and her mother.

“They enjoyed all the action from the front row and they had a great night.

“It was great to welcome them.”
