Prince Harry and Meghan are "not interested in making things work" with the Royal Family, an expert has claimed.

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex snubbed an invite to an event that will honour the late Princess Diana.

The pair turned down the invite to the bash at Kensington Palace just weeks after their royal-style tour of New York, their first major public appearance since "Megxit".

It was confirmed by a spokeswoman on Saturday that Prince Harry would not be attending the rescheduled party, reports The Sun.

But experts have warned that the couple's failure to attend could further damage the already strained relationship between Harry and his brother Prince William.

Royal expert and author, Penny Junor said the rift will continue if the pair do not return to the UK.

She said: "It is a great shame they are not coming.

"The longer they stay away the greater the rift and the more difficult it is to come back from.

"There is a lot of work to be done, it's a shame they can't come back. It shows they are not interested in making things work."
