Scottish fisherman, Jimmy Buckan, has revealed he had a “very good” meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking if he can guarantee fresh fish will flow into Europe.  The assurance comes as British fishermen have previously claimed they got “assurances immediately” from the Prime Minister that UK fisheries would be protected under his leadership. Ireland’s Leo Varadkar has previously claimed no deal Brexit would lead to “carnage” for fisheries as well as agriculture.

Speaking to Sky News, Mr Buckan said: “We met with the Prime Minister. We had a very good and frank, open meeting. 

“The question that I had, the particular question that I wanted to raise is ‘will our fresh fish be able to flow out of the UK into France on November 1?’

“He has given me a firm commitment at the table that the fish will get through.”
