Royal expert Angela Levin said she doubted the rift between the brothers will never fully heal as William is very protective of his wife and he was shocked by Harry and Meghan’s rudeness about the Queen.

And her views were echoed in an exclusive Express.co.uk poll.

A staggering 85 percent (4,727 people) said they did not think William and Harry should put their rift behind them.

Just 12 percent (599 people) said they should and 3 percent (171 people) said they didn’t know.

A total of 5,497 people took part in the online poll which ran from 10.30am until 8.30pm on Friday, March 12 2021.

One reader said: “To much damage has been done now and for them to make up may cause a backlash from the public.

“At this time Harry and Meghan need to keep away and rethink how they have treated the country and involving the commonwealth.

“Harry also needs to make his mind up about his Sussex title and renounce it.”

Another said: “What Harry and Meghan have done can’t just be swept under the carpet.”

Another reader said: “The bottom line is you do not go on national television and proceed to slander your family.

“Why would anyone expect to reconcile with a family member when their words and actions are damaging and hurtful?

“Forgiveness will take some time.”

Another said: “Sadly once trust is broken you cant get it back.

“William has been stabbed in back by his own brother.

“Would anyone trust a family member again after that?”

And another reader said: “Unfortunately, sometimes things are said and done that are too hurtful to forgive and it’s not always possible to put things right.

“And after an awful event like this, even if rifts are healed relationships never go back to what they were.”
