Sir Arthur, who suffered sight loss caused by glaucoma, died on December 9, 1921, at his London home after an accident. He was just 55.

To mark the 100th anniversary of his death, the service by charity Blind Veterans UK will mark the help he gave to blind people, particularly those who lost their sight in the First World War. In 1915 he co-founded its forerunner charity St Dunstan’s, providing job training and ongoing care for thousands.
