Mike Tindall, a former English rugby union player, was a member of the English squad which won the 2003 World Cup. Although in-laws, Princess Anne is an avid supporter of the Scottish rugby team, she hardly ever misses a home match and has even travelled abroad to support the Scottish national team.

Lorraine Kelly who recently got a CBE, discussed Princess Anne’s love for Scotland on her show.

She said: “I shouldn’t really say this, but she’s my favourite.

“She works so hard under the radar for all these incredible charities and really makes a difference.

“So it was great. And we talked about well, she loves Scotland.

“Yeah, you know, she supports Scottish rugby. I was so kind of giddy that I don’t really remember what we talked about.”

Princess Anne seems to follow in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, who also had such a love of Scotland that she considered herself to be a Scot even though she was born in England.

She once said in an interview: “Scotland is such a beautiful country with such passionate people, who could fail to want to be a part of it?”

Anne’s son Peter Philips has also caught the Scotland bug. He won Scotland Schoolboy international caps when he was younger and it was reported “there was never a prouder mum looking on” than Princess Anne whenever he played.

This year Zara and Mike Tindall celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary.

The pair married on 30 July 2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh in front of royals including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince William, and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The bride and groom were joined by 400 guests at their nuptials in Scotland.

Although Zara is the granddaughter of the Queen, since her father, Captain Mark Phillips, turned down a royal title, Zara has not inherited any titles of her own.

Zara Tindall and her brother, Peter Phillips, are often referred to as the Queen’s “favourite” grandchildren.

Speaking to Fabulous Digital, Majesty Magazine editor Ingrid Seward said the Queen enjoys “Zara and her family’s down-to-earth personalities and often seeks out their company.”

She said: “They are certainly light relief. She can be herself around them.”
