The Crown execs ‘didn’t listen to Harry’ and he’ll be ‘furious’ at William scene

Paul Burrell says The Crown showing Diana’s death is ‘too much’

Prince Harry ‘wasn’t listened to’ by The Crown bosses, according to royal author Angela Levin.

The Netflix drama is back for its final ever season, depicting many heartbreaking moments such as Princess Diana’s funeral and the moment her sons discovered she had died.

There is a disclaimer labelling The Crown a “fictional dramatisation,” but the royal expert has told GB News that she believes Harry will be “furious” with the depiction.

In particular, Levin thinks Harry will be angry at the scene in which King Charles tells his sons that their mother has died in a Paris car crash.

Speaking to Richard Tice on GB News, she explained: “But the other thing that’s quite interesting is that Harry said in his own book Spare that his father didn’t cuddle him or hold him when he came in to tell them that his mother was killed.

“And in fact, they don’t care about that in The Crown, they make sure he holds him, and strokes him, and being terribly nice to him, so they didn’t even listen to what Harry has said.”

Harry was only 12 when he lost his mother and has spoken openly about the pain he experienced following the accident.

The Duke of Sussex has been candid about how his mother’s death affected him, revealing his disbelief when he first heard the news, so writers would have plenty of material to go off.

Asked if people should watch it, Levin said: “Well, I mean, at the beginning, it’s alright. It depends what you like, but just remember it is not really true.”

The royal author also thinks Harry will hate the funeral scenes, as his feelings have been transferred to his older brother.

She added: “What’s interesting is that Harry said to me, because I wrote his biography, he said to me he couldn’t bear people crying because they didn’t know his mother, and that made him unable to cry for a number of years.

“However, they make sure that William is actually saying this. So, they’ve taken all Harry’s feelings and put it under William – he’ll be furious.”

Harry is likely to avoid watching the new season as it depicts the events leading up to his mother’s tragic death, according to PR expert Mayah Riaz.

Mayah told the Daily Mirror: “I don’t think Harry will watch the new series. The reason he won’t watch it is because it is not a reflection of what he went through. He has spoken about how upsetting that period was for him.”

She added that it would be distressing for Harry to see his mother’s death recreated for entertainment.

“Seeing someone else’s depiction of it will be upsetting as he may feel it did not need to be recreated for entertainment. For that reason he will avoid watching it,” she said.
