Storm Dennis leaves girl injured after tree crashes through window in terrifying encounter

The child is understood to have been playing on her phone when the violent storm struck.

She has been left with minor injuries following the encounter.

Four flats have been evacuated as a result.

The girl was one of several residents who were offered treatment by paramedics when the large tree fell, hitting a block of flats in Hanham, Bristol.

The flats on Grange Court, nearby to Hanham High Street, were cordoned off while the tree is removed.

Six families have been forced to leave their homes as a result.

Hicks Gate Fire Station tweeted: “She was laying on her bed playing on her phone at the time when the branch came through the window, thankfully and amazingly only a couple of small cuts.”

Minor injuries were treated by South West Ambulance Service with Avon Fire and Rescue’s Blue Watch from Hicks Gate Fire Station and Kingswood Fire Station also attending the scene.

One person tweeted about the freak weather conditions: “Wow, glad no one was hurt. The street lights were bending like mad, my 2 year old was terrified!”
