The Queen was spotted travelling to Balmoral Castle on Friday afternoon. This trip marked the beginning of Her Majesty’s first holidays in her beloved Scottish castle since the death of Prince Philip in April.

Her summer retreat, which traditionally lasts until early October, came just a few days after Prince Harry announced he is working on an “intimate” memoir.

Following claims this news sparked a “tsunami of fear” among royal circles, the Queen surprised some of the palace staff by reportedly urging to “rise above it”.

One source told the Sun: “She could not wait to get away.

“She is still grieving very deeply and wanted to head to Balmoral to escape from things.

“She is also incredibly tired.” 

The death of Prince Philip, who was married to the Queen for more than seven decades, is still raw for the monarch, according to the source.

They said: “It is only just over three months since Philip was buried, so the book announcement is incredibly insensitive and seems another two fingers to the monarchy.

“But Her Majesty has told her family and staff that the only way to deal with it is to rise above it.”

The Queen’s “restrained reaction” to Prince Harry’s book announcement “actually surprised some staff”, the source added.

Prince Harry announced on Monday he is working on a memoir, set to cover “his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan and the joy he has found in being a husband and father”. 

The book, which Penguin Random House aims to release in late 2022, has been described in a statement by the Archewell team as the “definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons” that helped shape the Duke of Sussex.

Speaking about his work-in-progress, Prince Harry said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

Sister Pippa Middleton, however, recreates a much more relaxed kind of perfection.

A body language expert compared and analysed their completely different parenting styles.

Judi James said: “There appears to be a world of difference between Kate and Pippa when it comes to their parenting poses.

“Pippa does appear to have inherited the Middleton knack of looking breezily calm and beautiful despite being loaded up with one small child walking beside her clutching the pram; a baby inside the pram, plus a whole load of baggage on the pram.

“The sign here is that this is her own personal balancing act, too.”

On the other hand, Kate’s parenting style is conditioned by having all eyes on her when she is in public, the expert said.
