Royal baby: No rest for Prince Harry – Will Prince Harry LEAVE Meghan Markle on Thursday?
An elated Prince Harry, 34, confirmed the safe arrival of his and Meghan Markle’s first child yesterday. At 5.26am on Monday The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed a royal baby boy into the world, weighing 7lbs 3oz. But will Prince Harry have to jet off on royal duty and leave new mum Meghan, 37 this week?
Prince Harry is clearly delighted to be a dad.
But will reportedly have to leave his baby boy and wife just three days after the birth as royal duty beckons.
Harry is the patron of the Invictus Games which will be held in the Netherlands one year from Thursday.
Harry will travel to the Hague as planned this week to officially launch the one-year countdown to the 2020 Invictus Games being held there, according to PEOPLE magazine.
While it was previously reported Harry’s trip abroad had been putt off around the royal baby’s imminent birth, things now seem to have changed.
The previous royal announcement read: “Due to the logistical planning for the traveling press to cover visits and engagements by The Royal Family, we have taken the decision to postpone The Duke of Sussex’s scheduled visit to Amsterdam on Wednesday 8th May 2019.”
However, a spokesperson for House Sussex has since told PEOPLE: “The Duke is currently scheduled to travel to The Hague on Thursday 9th May for the launch of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020 as planned.”
The change to Harry’s schedule reportedly comes as other royal family members have several engagements next week.
Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, will be in Germany, while Prince William and Kate Middleton will be in North Wales.
Harry’s will take a one-hour flight from London to the Hague on Thursday, leaving Meghan and thier newborn baby behind in Windsor.
But the new mum and royal tot will be in safe hands.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland is understood to be staying at Frogmore Cottage and supporting Meghan as she settles into motherhood.
An elated Prince Harry confirmed both Meghan and the baby boy were doing “incredibly well” in a gushing statement to journalists gathered in Windsor yesterday.
Prince Harry said: “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.
“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension, but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there.
‘It’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
He was tight-lipped about possible baby names and said: “Still thinking about names.
“The baby is a little bit overdue, so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it.
“That’s the next bit, but for us I think we will be seeing you guys in probably two days’ time as planned as a family to be able to share it with you guys and so everyone can see the baby.”
Delighted dad Prince Harry will no doubt be rushing back to Meghan and the baby as soon as royal duty permits.
Mum and baby are likely to appear in public for the first time in the coming days.
