Princess Eugenie opens up on ‘most nerve-wracking’ moment of year in Instagram post

Princess Eugenie marked the World Against Trafficking In Persons Day with a series of Instagram stories published on her lively account. The youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has been an activist against modern slavery for several years.

But the past months have been particularly packed with milestones for her organisation, The Anti-Slavery Collective, and interesting meetings – which pushed Princess Eugenie to share the most meaningful pictures she has gathered so far.

In the first picture opening her nine time-limited stories, Princess Eugenie wrote: “I wanted to look back at some of the heroic people and stories I have experienced as co-founder of The Anti-Slavery Collective”.

Among the stories she tells with the pictures shared, Princess Eugenie revealed which experience seriously tested her nerves in 2019.

Sharing a picture showing her speaking at The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Princess Eugenie wrote: “Earlier this year I spoke in Vienna at the OSCE.

“One of the most nerve-wracking moments speaking to all those people.”

But Princess Eugenie has already proven herself worthy of speaking in front of an important audience.

Alongside her sister, Princess Beatrice, Eugenie travelled to the New York’s United Nations headquarters in August last year to host a meeting focused on ending modern slavery.

Their mother Sarah, also fondly known as Fergie, couldn’t help but express her pride at the sight of her daughters working at such an important cause.

She wrote on Instagram: “So proud of my girls Beatrice and Eugenie @unitednations HQ.

Among the other pictures shared, the princess is seen shaking hands to members of the United Nations’ Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women.

She also launched in May Tech Tackles Trafficking, a multi-sector initiative between the private, public and civil society designed to bring together social media, the television, film and fashion industries to fight human trafficking.

Princess Eugenie and the co-founder of the collective, Julia de Boinville, are also seen in one of the stories published on Instagram as they visit London’s Westminster Abbey.

There, they met Bishop Alastair Redfern, the independent slavery commissioner Sara Thornton and US Ambassador against trafficking in persons Susan P. Coppedge.

Eugenie ended her series of stories with a touching picture of her and Julia looking at one another.

The caption read: “I’m so proud to try and affect change on World Against Trafficking on World Against Trafficking in Persons Day with my co-founder Julia.

“Together we can end modern slavery.”

The pair have been developing their knowledge in the field of modern slavery since 2012.

Five years later, Eugenie and Julia successfully launched their collective.

Princess Eugenie could count on the help of her loving parents when she first started actively working to end modern slavery.

The York family not only supported Princess Eugenie’s efforts but also set up together Key to Freedom, an organisation which help vulnerable women in West Bengal, India, learning skills which will allow them to earn and income and emancipate.

The organisation also helps market these women’s products in western retailers such as Topshop.

Princess Eugenie supports several other charities, including The Salvation Army and The Thompson Reuters Foundation.
