Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince George, seven, both attend Thomas’s school in Battersea – where they are typically treated like any other pupil. But at the start of this school year, the royal youngsters were given a special exemption to a new rule.
The prestigious school, where termly fees range between £6,655 and £7,520, introduced a number of new safety rules to help keep staff and children safe from coronavirus.
One rule banned parents from driving into the school grounds to drop their children off.
Instead, parents have to do the school run drop off at the front gates.
But a royal expert has claimed the Cambridge’s are exempt from this change.
Writing for Vanity Fair, Katie Nicholl said Princess Charlotte and Prince George have been permitted to break the rule.
She said: “According to one parent, the school has installed numerous Covid prevention measures and parents now have to drop children at the school gates.
“The Cambridges, however, are still able to drive their children into the school grounds.”
The exemption for the Royal Family is likely because the Cambridge’s are accompanied by a number of security personnel.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are understood to do the school run themselves and are said to be regulars at the playground gates.
They are claimed to manage their work commitments around school times, despite having a nanny and other staff.
The two children are not known by their official titles at school.
Prince George is a popular child and both staff and pupils make little of the fact he will one day be King, it is claimed.

A source told the magazine: “He’s very popular and has lots of friends, and there’s very little fuss made about who he is.
“Either William or Kate do drop off, and they are always very friendly.
“William particularly loves to have a chat with some of the other parents and he works out with some of the mums at the Harbour Club after drop off.
“He’s very chatty and amiable.”
Prince Louis, the Cambridge’s youngest child, is not yet old enough to attend school, having just turned two in April.
But he is expected to join his brother and sister at the prestigious school after his fourth birthday.
