Princess Anne, 70, lives at Gatcombe House in Gloucestershire close to her daughter Zara Tindall, 39, and son Peter Phillips, 42. Gatcombe Park Estate was a wedding gift to Anne from her mother Queen Elizabeth II, 94, and both Zara and Peter live in properties in the grounds with their own respective families.

Zara tied the knot with former England rugby player Mike Tindall in 2011.

The couple have two daughters – Lena, two, and Mia, six.

Zara’s brother Peter is in the process of divorcing his wife Autumn with whom he has two daughters – Savannah, nine, and Isla, eight.

Zara, Peter and Princess Anne are neighbours and their families often spend time together.

Zara and Mike’s eldest Mia is learning to ride with her big cousins Isla and Savannah and Peter often takes them out on ponies.

While Princess Anne may have liked to spend Christmas with all of her grandchildren, the Princess Royal faces a difficult decision amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Government’s rule of six to curb the spread of the virus is expected to remain in place until the end of the year and has wreaked havoc with Britons’ Christmas plans.

The Royal Family is no exception and the Queen’s traditional gathering at Sandringham is unlikely to happen this year.

Instead, the royals will have to mark the holiday in groups of no more than six people.

This means that Princess Anne will be unable to host both her daughter Zara and Peter’s families on Christmas Day.

Instead, Anne may have to ask her children to take it in turns to visit her but will still need to decide which of them to have Christmas lunch with.

Anne lives with her husband Timothy Laurence and they will only be able to host four people at a time if the rule of six remains in place come Christmas.

The same applies to the Queen and Prince Philip who will also have to make a tough decision about who to spend Christmas with.

Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge are expected to spend Christmas Day down the road from Sandringham at Anmer Hall.

However, Kate and William have three children – Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two which makes teaming up to mark Christmas with another royal couple unlikely.

The Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, 56, and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, 55, could make likely Christmas guests at Sandringham.

As Sophie and Edward have two children – Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12, they could join the Queen and Philip without breaching the six-person limit.

Princess Anne’s Christmas were not the only plans hard hit by the pandemic – the royal has had to delay her 70th birthday celebrations too.

Anne turned 70 on August 15 and was due to mark the milestone with a family gathering in Scotland.

However, her original party plans have been postponed for the foreseeable future.
