Prince William subtly snubs Harry and Invictus Games in bitter royal feud

Prince William reveals only time he’s cried watching sport

Prince William subtly snubbed Prince Harry and his brother’s flagship Invictus Games during a podcast appearance earlier this week.

Harry is in Dusseldorf, Germany, watching wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans, compete at the Invictus Games – a charitable sporting occasion he started back in 2014.

But Prince William used an appearance on Mike Tindall’s podcast to speak passionately about the Paralympic Games and did not mention the Invictus Games.

The Prince of Wales shocked many listeners when he appeared on The Good, The Bad & The Rugby podcast with Kate, Princess of Wales and Princess Anne.

During their conversation, Prince William lavished praise on the 2012 Paralympics, which were held in London in what is often described as the breakthrough event for paralympic sport globally.

He said that it was a “huge moment for disability sport taking off” and that “it has obviously got bigger and bigger since then”.

But despite the Invictus Games running until Saturday, there was no word on Harry’s project.

The snub is the latest renewing of anger between the brothers, which has seen their relationship plunged into disarray in the years since Harry opted to quit his post as a frontline royal.

After severing ties with Buckingham Palace, Harry has regularly upset royal courtiers with claims he and wife Meghan Markle have made publicly – either on shows such as their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan or in the Duke of Sussex’s memoir Spare.

But this week hostilities were restored after Harry overshadowed William giving an official act of remembrance to their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II on the one-year anniversary of her death.

Harry appeared in St George’s Chapel – where William carried out the act of remembrance.

William would later get his revenge with the podcast’s release which came as Harry’s Invictus Games were launched.

Even this week just before Harry and Meghan’s NATO photocall was released, William and Kate were seen cooking food around a campfire at a forest school, teaching children about conversation.

King Charles III, the sparring princes’ father, remains hopeful that a compromise can be reached, with an insider telling the Daily Beast that he “wants the attacks on him and his family to stop” from Harry.

The source continued: “If Harry has once again got a purpose in his life that makes him think twice about attacking him, even if it is only because that image is not good for Invictus, that can only be a good thing for everyone.”

But incidents similar to these are likely to continue, an unnamed friend of William’s claimed that the “reality is the Prince of Wales can click his fingers and organize a fireside chat at Windsor Castle to bring impact to his causes… Harry can’t do that stuff anymore”.
