Prince Harry and Meghan remain silent as they snub his aunt Anne on birthday

Princess Anne: Charles won’t change as King

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not publicly wished the Princess Anne a happy birthday today, as the Princess Royal turns 73 just a couple of weeks after Meghan’s own birthday.

The Sussexes have remained estranged from the rest of the Firm since they stepped down as working royals in 2020 and relocated to Montecito in California.

As such there were no royal well-wishes on social media for Meghan when she turned 42 on August 4, however there may be another explanation for the silence from Harry’s family.

Royal correspondent Danielle Stacey explained to Hello! magazine: “In recent years and certainly since King Charles III’s reign began in September 2022, we have only seen public messages from the royal family’s social media accounts for working members of the royal family, such as the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back as senior royals in 2020, and no longer carry out royal duties. Similarly, the palace doesn’t typically share messages on the likes of Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall’s birthdays nor their children’s special days.”

Therefore, the King would not post a public happy birthday message for Harry, Meghan or their two children on the royal social media channels due to their status as non-working royals, although it is possible messages were exchanged privately.

However he did post a sweet message for his younger sister, which read: “Wishing Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal a very Happy Birthday today!”, alongside two photos of Charles and Anne together.

One saw them beaming at his Coronation earlier this year while Anne is dressed in her ceremonial outfit, while the second was a cute throwback to 1951 in black and white with Charles fussing over his little sister in her cot.

With her birthday on August 15 the Princess Royal is a Leo, with celebrity astrologer Inbaal Honigman telling Express.co.uk what the royal can expect for the year ahead.

She said: “Those born under the sign of the Lion, like Princess Anne, have a challenging start to their year in 2023.

“The planet Venus, ruler of love and the home, is retrograde in Leo. This means that the Princess could experience some tensions in her house, and feel as if she’s not being heard.”

However there will be some positives to look forward to, as Ms Honigman added: “The nicest things for Princess Anne to expect this year are, first of all, hopes and wishes coming true.

“Her birthday month will see a rare blue moon, which helps with manifesting desires. If there is still a destination she would like to visit, tickets will be booked this month. Another thing to look forward to is helping others.”

King Charles will be celebrating turning 75 later this year, on November 14, although as monarch his official birthday is celebrated in June with Trooping the Colour.
