Police officer hospitalised after 'speeding suspect' mowed him down

A police officer has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Tottenham this morning, close to White Hart Lane station.

He had stopped a ‘suspected vehicle’ at 11.32am before it then ‘drove off at speed’ and hit him, a spokesperson for Met Police confirmed.

Emergency services and an air ambulance were called to the scene and the officer was rushed to hospital.

Police are still awaiting an update on his condition, but he is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Enquiries are underway to locate the suspects and the vehicle, while no arrests have been made at this stage.

TfL Bus Alerts tweeted that traffic was being diverted in the north London area ‘due to a police incident’.

Route W3 is currently diverted in both directions via Fore Street, North Circular Road, Great Cambridge Roundabout and Great Cambridge Road.
