Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released new photos of their eldest child, Archie, in the couple’s explosive new Netflix docuseries. Few pictures have been made public of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s two children.
But in the new images, Meghan can be seen laughing next to Archie in a highchair, with a yellow birthday hat perched on his head.
Prince Harry is on Archie’s other side, as is Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.
In a second photograph, Harry grins at the camera underneath a green umbrella, holding young Archie in a grey hat with animal ears.
Just before the photographs are displayed in the episode, Archie, now three, can be seen running ahead of his parents as Harry pushes a pram behind him in a previously-unseen clip.
Meghan then says the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “have been really conscious of protecting our kids as best we can, and also understanding the role that they play in this really historical family”.
Prince Harry adds: “As a dad, and as parents, I think consent is a really key piece to this.”
He continues: “If you have children, it should be your consent as to what you share.”
Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed Archie into their family when they still worked as senior royals in the UK.
The couple attended an official photocall shortly after the eldest Sussex’s birth was announced in May 2019.
Prince Harry was present for the birth, Buckingham Palace confirmed in their announcement.
He weighed 7lb 3oz, and was born shortly before 5.30am on May 6.

As the couple’s first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has attracted significant media attention.
During the couple’s interview with US chat show host Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Meghan alleged that when she was pregnant with Archie, a member of the Firm raised “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.
Archie is entitled to be a Prince now his grandfather is King, but it has not been clarified whether he will use the title.
The first episodes of the Netflix series were released on the streaming platform on Thursday morning.
The second instalment will hit the small screen next week.
The release comes three months to the day after the death of the Queen, and just a month ahead of the release of the Duke of Sussex’s highly-anticipated memoir.
