Fans compare Meghan ‘googling national anthem’ to Louis ‘singing it aged 4’

Teasing royal fans have pointed out that a young Prince Louis was able to sing the national anthem perfectly at just four-years-old, after Meghan Markle admitted she had to search up and repeatedly practice the lyrics.

The Duchess of Sussex, who released three episodes of her bombshell Netflix documentary alongside her husband the Duke of Sussex today (December 8), told interviewers nobody taught her royal protocol and she had to learn it herself.

Meghan explained: "Joining this family, I knew that there was a protocol for how things were done. There’s no class and some person who goes, 'sit like this, cross your legs like this, use this fork, don’t do this…' I needed to learn a lot, including the national anthem."

When asked by the interviewer how she learnt it, she replied: "Oh, I googled it. I sat there and I practised and I practised and I practised."

But it has sparked cheeky comments from royal fans on Twitter, who rushed to point out that Prince Louis, the second son of William, Prince of Wales and Kate, Princess of Wales, could belt out the whole anthem as a youngster.

One wrote: "Prince Louis stood on balcony and sang every single word" with another joking: "She had to learn the national anthem… the injustice."

The series of interviews for the six-part Netflix series is far from the first time the Duchess of Sussex has spoke with the camera.

Harry and Meghan – parents to Archie and Lilibet – have taken part in a number of high profile interviews, including a bombshell sit-down with US talk show host Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

They have accused the Royal Family of racism on numerous occasions, claiming an unnamed royal made a racist remark about Archie's skin colour before he was born, and that the institution failed to help a suicidal Meghan.

The palace maintained, in a carefully worded statement, that "recollections may vary" with regards to those specific incidents.

More recently, Meghan’s interview with The Cut hit the headlines as the former actress said it takes “a lot of effort” to forgive and hinted that she can “say anything”.
