Mum-of-two who went missing in October 2018 found dead in woods

A mum-of-two who disappeared more than two years ago has been found dead in a woodland.

An urgent search was launched for Christina Rack, 48, as she vanished after leaving the family home in Chorlton, Manchester on October 1, 2018.

Her body was found by dog walkers in Chorlton Ees area, close to the River Mersey, on April 13.

Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: ‘Police continue to investigate the circumstances around Christina’s death.

‘Christina’s family wish to thank all those that have supported in the search for Christina since she was reported missing.’

The mother experienced mental health issues before her death and had gone missing before, but only for less than a day.

Officers said in 2018 they feared she had not taken vital medication after going missing.

Describing her last known movements, her brother Martin said she was seen at quarter past eight by her daughter at home and had arranged to meet her son at a bench in Chorlton Meadows.

Her son rang her three or four times after she didn’t show up and she had not been seen since.

Martin said: ’There was nothing to suspect that she was going to disappear. There was no issue, no argument within the family which had come to a head.’

He added: ‘She was always going out with the dog, birdwatching, she is very chatty and personable. My mum and sister would talk to her every day for hours on end, and she’s funny.’

Officers have urged anyone with information on the case to come forward.
