Meghan Markle to be ‘wearing the apron’ and ditch staff on Archie’s first Thanksgiving
Meghan is a “talented chef” and may want to be surrounded just by her family without taking advantage of the help from her staff on this all-American holiday, royal expert Katie Nicholl said. Today marks Meghan and Harry’s first Thanksgiving as parents, and the Duchess of Sussex will likely spend it cooking and enjoying the company of her family, the expert said. She told OK! magazine: “Meghan loves being in the kitchen.
“She’s a talented chef and takes great pleasure in bringing people together over a family meal.
“There won’t be any staff helping her – she’ll definitely be wearing the apron”.
Meghan and Harry are on a six-week break from royal duties, which will last until after Christmas.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be spending their first Christmas as parents with the Queen and other senior royals at Sandringham, but will celebrate it privately with Doria, as confirmed by a spokesperson of the pair.
The statement read: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month.
“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, [the couple] will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria.”
The spokesperson added the whereabouts of the couple will remain a secret for security reasons, leaving commentators to speculate whether Meghan, Harry and Archie will spend the winter holidays in the US.
The spokesperson also said the Queen was supportive with Meghan and Harry’s decision of not heading to Sandringham this year – after they spent there the last two Christmases.
They said: “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”
Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William have paved the way to the Sussexes by spending Christmas with the Middleton family in 2012 and 2016.
Some royal commentators have argued Kate and William could decide to do the same this year, as Kensington Palace hasn’t officially confirmed they will be in attendance yet.
Royal Central desk editor Lydia Starbuck said: “Do we know whether William and Kate are going to be there? Has that been confirmed or denied?
“They haven’t always gone, like in 2012 when Kate was expecting George.
“They spent Christmas with her mum and dad.
“Or when Charlotte was tiny, we had those pictures of them walking to Church together with George.
“So it’s fairly normal for the younger generation to go and spend Christmas elsewhere.”
Another Royal commentator, Brittani Barger, said: “I don’t think we’ve had any confirmation yet on whether or not they are going to be there.
“There is a possibility, obviously, they could choose to spend it with the Middletons as well.
“There’s a chance we won’t see either the Sussexes or the Cambridges at Christmas this year with the Royal Family, which is totally fine.”
Royals don’t usually confirm their presence at Sandringham to the public.
However, Meghan and Harry decided to let officially known they were not going to Norfolk due to the increasing interest in this matter from both the public and the media.
