Who needs casssssh? Giant snake with his mouth open terrifies shoppers after wrapping itself around an ATM

• Giant python tried to make an ATM its new home leaving shoppers stunned

• She said it was ‘surprising’ to find the python in the middle of the town 
• Locals gathered and took photos as they waited for a snake handler 

Shoppers got more than they bargained for when they discovered a giant python on top of an ATM.  

New South Wales woman Dianne Mancell was at a St. George Bank ATM in Lismore, In New South Wales, on Wednesday when she came face-to-face with the giant python. 

She took a photo of the snake as it rested on top of the ATM while a crowd of shoppers gathered to watch.

Miss Mancell told Daily Mail Australia it was an unexpected encounter. 

‘I was surprised to say the least, I live in the bush and see them all the time but not in a city,’ she said. 

‘I love our beautiful pythons, they are a mysterious creature. Although I don’t feel like that when the occasional one takes one of my chooks.’ 

She said the snake had drawn the attention of a number of people who were all stunned by the discovery. 

‘People were milling around checking it out and taking pictures,’ Miss Mancell said.

A snake catcher was called to capture the python so others could finally use the ATM. 

‘Unfortunately I couldn’t wait around for the snake handler to relocate as I was on my way to work,’ Miss Mancell said. 

One woman who commented on the picture, which has drawn hundreds of comments and over 2000 shares, also witnessed the snake. 

‘I looked at (it) from our foyer. The footpath, road, second footpath and our glass doors provided a lot of comfort!’ the woman wrote. 

Meanwhile others saw the lighter side of the encounter. 

‘One way to start saving,’ one user wrote. 

‘Perfect timing just before Black Friday,’ another added.
