Meghan Markle row: Is there royal feud brewing as Duchess given new unflattering nickname?

Meghan Markle went from Hollywood star to royalty when she married Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson Prince Harry last year. The couple met in June 2016, and married just under two years later, on May 19 in 2018. Last month the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also welcomed their first child Archie Harrison, who is the seventh in line to the throne. But Meghan’s marriage to a prince has given the Duchess an unflattering nickname.

It’s been reported the Duchess of Sussex is labelled “the degree wife” by a senior member of the Royal Family.

According to The Sunday Times, Meghan got the name as her in-laws cruelly believe the marriage between herself and Harry will “only last three years”.

This is not the first time Meghan has been given a rude nickname.

Previous reports have suggested Meghan was nicknamed “Duchess Difficult” by staff, while members of her own team called her “Me-Gain”.

Speculation that the American former actress is difficult to work for were fuelled after three members of her close team handed in their notice.

But Meghan has not only been given offensive nicknames.

Her father-in-law Prince Charles has reportedly given her a sweet name, which doesn’t sound particularly complimentary but is meant in the best way.

According to royal sources, Prince Harry’s dad calls Meghan “Tungsten”.

This is because, just like the super-tough metal, she’s “tough and unbending”.

After the speculation of Meghan’s “Duchess Difficult” nicknames, her friends have come to her rescue.

In an anonymous interview, one friend said Meghan hasn’t changed and described her as “selfless” and the “best listener”.

One said: “Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths.

“We worry about what this is doing to her and the baby.”

But a palace source is also said to have commented on why Prince Harry’s long-time friends such as Tom “Skippy” Inskip and PR guru Astrid Harbord, have been excluded from the Duke’s inner circle.

The insider told The Sunday Times: “Anybody who voiced any kind of reservation about Meghan has been sidelined.”
