Meghan Markle embroiled in ‘two-pronged HORROR’ campaign from staff ‘protecting’ royals
Meghan Markle has been dogged by persistent rumours about her behaviour with palace staff, with the expert suggesting the Duchess of Sussex had “ruffled feathers” among senior courtiers. The former American actress, who is set to celebrate her one-year wedding anniversary with Prince Harry shortly after delivering her first child, has also been accused of having members of palace staff “recoil” at her open approach to public speaking – allegedly raising concerns Meghan may attract criticism. Royal expert Tina Brown claimed the Duchess has indeed been faced with “two-pronged horrors” because of “gossiping” courtiers seeking to protect senior members of the Royal Family.
Speaking to CBS This Morning, Ms Brown said: “What she’s dealing with are two-pronged horrors.
“One is the awful gossiping, feuding, sneaky, viperine, hissing courtiers of the different, rival camps in the palace. Clarence House, where Prince Charles lives, hates rivals and competes.
“It’s like different TV shows, all competing with each other. They are trying to protect Charles and Camilla, after all, he’s going to be king – everyone forgets Charles and Camilla, they’re actually the next in line.
“And then Harry’s staff and William’s staff – before they were together, now they’ve split apart because each needs their own office – they’re all kind of fighting.”
She added: “And then there’s the Queen’s lot which, of course, it’s the Big Brother of it all and they get the last say. But there’s a lot of hissy fits.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex split their household from Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge in March and relocated from central London to Frogmore Cottage, on the Windsor Estate, in preparation for the birth of the Royal Baby.
Meghan and Harry spent around £3million renovating their new home, adding new staircases and fireplaces.
A source told the MailOnline: “It is a very expensive affair. Frogmore Cottage is in an extremely run-down condition and is needing a lot of TLC and heavy restoration to bring it up to standard ahead of the Duke and Duchess’ moving in date.
“As a result, it is set to cost between £2million and £3million for the whole project. It is being specially designed to ensure that the family has a comfortable country life away from the hustle and bustle of London where they are living now.”
The Duchess of Sussex has apparently made it “clear” that she wants to get back to her royal duties “as soon as possible” according to a royal insider.
Meghan completed her duties six weeks ago in preparation for the birth of her first child but has apparently continued to work with charities behind the scenes.
A royal source told The Sun: “Meghan has made it very clear she wants to return to work as soon as possible.
“She has huge amounts of energy, is extremely determined and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her charities.
“Nothing has been written into her diary just yet, as she wants to wait and see how she feels after having the baby.
“She’s pencilled in three months, but she’ll most likely return to public life in six weeks — on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in June.”
