Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, officially stood down as senior members of the Royal Family on March 31 and Buckingham Palace will no longer handle any communications for the couple. Since moving to LA from Canada, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have hired Sunshine Sachs who previously represented Harvey Weinstein. Royal expert Angela Mollard believes the royal couple hiring this US agency is interesting while saying previous clients “needed” their PR companies.

Speaking on New Idea’s ROYALS podcast, Ms Mollard said: “They’ll have no office at Buckingham Palace but most interestingly they also won’t be part of the royal rota.

“The royal rota is the way the media have access to the royal family.

“Being outside of that will mean they now have to employ their own PR agency and this is very interesting.

“They’ve employed two agencies; Sunshine Sachs from the US and for the UK, they’ve got James Holt.

“Both very experienced PR agencies but very Hollywood, very celebrity.

“Sunshine Sachs, for instance, represented Harvey Weinstein and Michael Jackson.

“If you think about their history, those men needed their PR companies.

“I think they’ll go a lot more along the George and Amal Clooney model of press representation which is pretty low key.”

It comes as new details have since emerged surrounding their royal status.

Speaking on his talkRADIO show, Dan Wootton said: “There are some very interesting facts emerging just over the past couple of hours about their future relations with the Royal Family.

“Buckingham Palace or no other royal communications representatives including palace spokespeople or household representatives or royal sources will speak anymore on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Instead they now have this PR company in the US which has previously represented people like Michael Jackson and Harvey Weinstein.

“They are now representing the couple.”

Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle added: “I think desperate times call for desperate measures.

“I think that speaks loudly about their position and their need to candy coat everything that’s happened.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have bowed out from the Royal Family with a heartfelt message about the coronavirus crisis and a vow to work out how they can “best contribute”.
