Masked gang attacked men in their car with knives and a gun
Two men have been shot and another was stabbed when masked thugs surrounded a car near a children’s play area.
A police manhunt is under way after the violent attack in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham, shortly before 9pm last night.
Three men were in a car on the usually quiet residential street when they were surrounded by a gang armed with a gun and knives.
The gang, all wearing masks, opened fire on the trio, hitting two of them in the arms. The third man was stabbed.
The gang was then thought to have escaped in up to three separate vehicles. No arrests have yet been made but enquiries are under way.
A woman who lives on the street told the Birmingham Mail: ‘I was at home last night and didn’t know anything had happened until I looked out the window just before I went to bed.
‘There were loads of police cars with their blue lights on. I went outside and asked one of them what hadn’t happened and he just said there’d been an incident and I should go back indoors. When I heard what happened this morning I was shocked.’
A police codon remains in place at the scene, next to a children’s play area and close to Bordesley Green Girls’ School.
A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: ‘We’re investigating after three men were injured after being attacked in Denbigh Street, Bordesley Green, at around 8.45pm yesterday (25 September).
‘They were in a car when a group of masked men – armed with a gun and knives – surrounded them.
‘A man in his 30s and another in his 20s suffered gunshot wounds to their arms; while another suffered stab injuries to his arm. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
‘The attackers fled in up to three vehicles and enquiries are ongoing to identify them.’
