Man 'stumbles into McDonald's to seek refuge' after being stabbed

A young man was rushed to hospital after he was knifed outside a McDonald’s in north London.

Police and emergency services were scrambled to the scene near the fast food restaurant in Colindale, Barnet, at 6.40pm following reports of a stabbing.

A man, who is believed to be in his 20s, was rushed to hospital, where he is understood to be in a critical condition.

Witnesses said they saw the man being stabbed at an estate across the road, with one reporting that he ‘stumbled’ into the McDonald’s branch for help.

‘I was sitting inside and heard all these police sirens. I saw two cops running into the McDonalds with stunned people crowding outside,’ they told the Daily Star.

‘This happened in broad daylight. It’s horrific. I was told the person was stabbed on our estate and then ran across the road and stumbled into the McDonald’s.’

‘The whole area is now taped off waiting for forensics. We can’t get in or out.’

The area, including the fast food restaurant, was cordoned off after an air ambulance arrived along with eight police cars and paramedics.

No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing, said Met Police.

In a statement, the force said earlier: ‘Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and the man, believed aged in his 20s, is being treated at the scene.’

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: ‘We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance, two medics in response cars, and an incident response officer.

‘We also dispatched London’s air ambulance. We treated a person at the scene before taking them by road to a major London trauma centre.’
