Man boasted he was a 'paedo-hunter' after stamping on innocent stranger's head

A thug who boasted he was a ‘f**king paedo-hunter’ after launching a ‘mindless and sickening’ attack on an innocent stranger has been jailed for 12 years.

Jamie Forster, 21, chased the man, aged in his 50s, from a canal towpath onto Urban Road in Sale on September 14 last year before tripping him to the floor. Horrified onlookers then saw him stamp on the ‘motionless and defenceless’ victim’s head more than 10 times while screaming: ‘You f**king nonce.’

The man was left with a sunken eye socket, swelling to the right side of his face and head as well as acute bleeding on the brain for which he spent ‘a considerable amount of time’ in hospital and still receives treatment for.

Forster carried out a similarly senseless attack two months earlier on July 13, when he slashed another stranger with a huge machete before laying into him with further stamps and kicks while he was sprawled on the pavement.

He admitted wounding with intent, possessing an offensive weapon and causing grievous bodily harm at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

The court heard he has previous convictions for battery and sexual assault.

Impact statements were read out in court from each of Forster’s victims.

The first said he needed surgery for cuts and fractures to his hands from the machete blows and has since moved away from the area for fear of further attacks.

He added: ‘I struggle with panic attacks every time I go out and I had to stay off work.’

The second victim described having ‘spent a considerable amount of time in hospital’ due to injuries inflicted by Forster’s foot.

He said: ‘I am still receiving treatment for my eye as it has sunk, they are considering corrective surgery and I have had to have numerous cognitive tests.

‘I am concerned I will not be able to work again as a financial advisor. I’ve lost my confidence and forever feel like I am looking over my shoulder.

‘It’s had a negative impact on my family who have to look after me at home and I feel the attack has changed me.’

Judge John Potter handed Forster a 12-year extended sentence for the two ‘unprovoked attacks’.

Referring to the later one, he said: ‘This man posed no threat to anyone at all. You called him a derogatory name and tripped him up.

‘He fell to the floor and as he lay on the ground you launched a quite sickening attack on him. People nearby were disgusted with the ferocity of the attack they were seeing.

‘Following the attack you stayed nearby as others came to assist and you explained to them you were a “f**king paedo hunter” and acted out in a macabre manner what you had just done for effect.

‘He had nothing to do with sexual offending towards children. This was just a gratuitous and violent attack on him and the repulsive words you used in his direction.’

Following the case, Detective Inspector David Jones said: ‘Forster’s attempts to intimidate and then use brutal force on his victims makes him a great threat to the local community in Sale and it is therefore reassuring to see him locked behind bars for a considerable amount of time.

‘The possession of such a dangerous weapon on our streets is completely unacceptable and anyone who is found carrying such articles should expect to be brought to justice for their actions.’
