King steps out in full military uniform at 200th Sovereign’s Parade

King Charles III arrived wearing full military attire as he stepped out for the 200th Sovereign’s Parade. The King’s appearance at the Sovereign’s Parade marked his first since becoming monarch. The 74-year-old appeared all smiles as he stepped out for his latest royal appearance, which will see the cadets make a solemn tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

During his visit, the King will present the new Colours and Sovereign’s Banner to the receiving Ensigns.

The old Colours, which belonged to the late Queen, will be marched onto the parade with the attending cadets passing by a statue of Queen Elizabeth II. During this moment, a mark of respect – in the form of a salute – will be given.

At the significant service, 171 Officer Cadets will be commissioned as Army Officers. The parade marks the completion of 44 weeks of intensive training for the cadets, with all receiving His Majesty’s Commission on midnight of the parade.

The King is also expected to give an address and present the prize winner’s – including the Sword of Honour.

During the changing of the colours, the King will step forward, and escorted by Commandants of Old and New Colleges, will present the new colours and the Sovereign’s Banner to the receiving Ensigns.

The new Colours will take centre stage at the parade, marking the start of a brand-new royal era.

This will be followed by the Prize Winner’s Awards, and concluding the appearance, the King will move to the Indian Army Memorial Room.

A meet will be held between the King, the Prize Winners and a selection of Foreign Officer Cadets.
