The Queen joins Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, who arrived earlier this morning to look at her wilderness creation she built for children, including Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. In contrast to Kate’s casual look earlier in the day, wearing white canvas trainers and wide-legged beige trousers, the Queen looks radiant in  The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) show in west London is one of the most highly anticipated events in the world for gardening lovers, and the Queen typically attends every year.

The Queen is Patron of the Royal Horticultural Society, meaning that it is not uncommon for Royal Family members to attend the show, with Her Majesty, Princess Anne and The Countess of Wessex attending in 2018.

Last year the Queen was pretty in pink, wearing a pale pink coat with white gloves and her statement pearls.

But this year Queen Elizabeth II will not only be visiting to enjoy the flowers and gardens for herself, but to support her grandson’s wife Kate.

The Duchess has been working on her green thumb this year whilst she has been working as a co-designer on one of the gardens for the event.

The 37-year-old personally designed the woodland wilderness plot at the world-renowned event, alongside the RHS and award-winning landscape architects Andree Davies and Adam White.

The garden, which Kate hopes will inspire families “to get outside” and “enjoy nature”, features a tree house, swing seat, waterfall, rustic den and a campfire as well as tree stumps, stepping stones and a hollow log for children to play on.

On Sunday, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis spent almost an hour playing in their mother’s garden, as shown in six candid images released by Kensington Palace.

It is understood Kate wanted to show her children the finished project on Sunday, so they could see what she has been spending time working on.

Kate’s garden project is also believed to have given a subtle nod to the late Princess Diana.

Bunches of blue forget-me-nots are featured in the green space as a touching tribute to Diana who had been fond of the flowers.

According to Earl Spencer, Diana’s younger brother, these flowers became her favourite after he gifted her with a bunch during their childhood.

Sean Harking, head gardener at Kensington Palace, told Vogue: “Earl Spencer, Princess Diana’s bother, gave some forget-me-nots to her when they were younger.

“They stayed with her as one of her favourite flowers.”
