Cressida Bonas ended her two-year relationship with Prince Harry because she was uncomfortable with the way it became the media’s focus. The Duke of Sussex and Ms Bonas started dating in 2012, after she was introduced to the Duke by his cousin Princess Eugenie. However, during their romance Harry also found himself surrounded in controversy.
In 2011, Harry took a boy’s trip to Hvar, Croatia where he was photographed drinking alcohol, dancing in a swimming pool fully clothed and then wearing someone else’s clothes.
In 2012, he went on holiday to Las Vegas and hosted a stripping game in his VIP hotel room.
A naked image of Harry was reportedly taken by someone who was at the party, which then began to make its way to front pages around the world.
In a documentary called “Harry & Meghan: The Next Steps” Ingrid Seward of Majesty Magazine was asked about Harry’s former girlfriends and the idea of living a royal lifestyle.
She said: “Chelsea and Cressida both loved him very much and they both probably felt very differently about it but, neither of them fancied that kind of life.”
Ms Bonas is an actress and daughter of Sixties “It Girl” Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and entrepreneur Jeffery Bonas.
She starred in theatrical plays like ‘An Evening with Lucian Freud,’ ‘Gatsby’ as well as TV series’ which include ‘White House Farm’ and ‘Trinity.’
However, royal reporter Robert Jobson believes that despite both Meghan and Cressida being actresses, Meghan “understood the spotlight” more.
He said: “It was probably more intense than Meghan I think and the reality is that she [Ms Bonas] was a budding actress that hadn’t really come to grips with it all.
“Whereas Meghan had been in the spotlight, understood it and knew how to handle it probably even better than Harry and other members of the Royal Family.
“She knew in this profession, one has to fall in love with the camera and to embrace it and to never look out of control.
“She never did once.
“If you look at all of her photographic situations she never looks hassled in any of them.”

After Ms Bonas ended the relationship with Harry, she continued to work on acting projects and also modelled for fashion brands Mulberry and Burberry.
The pair attempted to keep their relationship as private as possible but things became too much for her once the speculation of an engagement circulated around the press.
The Duke of Sussex and his former girlfriend have since remained good friends. She even attended Harry’s wedding in 2018.
The following year she got engaged to Harry Wentworth-Stanley and the pair tied the knot in 2020.
When reflecting on the pair’s former relationship, Mr Jobson said: “I must admit that when he was going out with Cressida Bonas, his previous suited girlfriend, and that I thought they were very well suited.
“He was overprotective of her maybe and she seriously didn’t like the Paparazzi situation.
“Who could blame her?”
