Harry would fear greeting King Charles early at Balmoral for this strange reason

Prince Harry once revealed one of his father’s – King Charles’s – health woes while at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

Writing in his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex claimed he would dread knocking on his father’s bedroom door for fear of what he would find on the other side.

He said the monarch suffered from “constant neck and back pain” as a result of years of playing polo.

And he added that he would perform daily headstands half-naked to combat that.

Prince Harry wrote: “Balmoral had 50 bedrooms, one of which had been divided for me and Willy.

“Open the wrong door and you might burst in on Pa while his valet was helping him dress.

“Worse, you might blunder in as he was doing his headstands.

“These exercises were the only effective remedy for the constant pain in Pa’s neck and back. Old polo injuries mostly.

“He’d perform them daily in just a pair of boxers propped against the door, or hanging from a bar like a skilled acrobat.

“If you set one little finger on the knob you hear him bark from the other side ‘no, no don’t open, please, don’t come in’.”

It is unclear if the King still suffers from chronic pain and if headstands are still part of his daily routine.
