Village overrun with famous footballers that’s one of UK’s poshest areas to live

On the face of it Alderley Edge in Cheshire could be mistaken for a sleepy little village.

But look a little closer and you might see a supercar fly past or a footballer picking up a few groceries at, where else, the local Waitrose.

And it’s little wonder – with two Premier League teams located nearby and a wide selection of dream properties, the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’ is located just 12 miles from the centre of Manchester city centre.

There’s also an array of bars and restaurants along its famous London Road including the celeb hotspot Bubble Room, The Botanist Bar and Restaurant and Gusto Italian.

Certain locales have become synonymous with the rich and famous, with Alderley Edge being situated at the heart of the renowned ‘Golden Triangle’ in Cheshire.

Tourism portal namechecked some of the village’s most famous residents past and present.

It said: “Part of Cheshire’s ‘Golden Triangle’ of affluent towns and villages, Alderley Edge is one of the most famous locales for footballers with past residents including David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand, and Sir Alex Feguson.”

From 2006-2009, Cristiano Ronaldo resided in a three-storey Alderley Edge home that was put on the market for £3.25million when he left the club nine years later.

And it’s little wonder that footballers and reality TV stars flock to the area – both to live and in their spare time.

VisitCheshire said: “The town is home to an upmarket high street with boutiques, bars and restaurants, and you may even spot an England international like Jack Grealish on their day off here.”
