Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could still “reconcile with the family behind the scenes” despite the imminent arrival of their tell-all Netflix docuseries, a royal expert has claimed. Richard Palmer, royal editor for the Daily Express, made the distinction between the royal family and the “family firm”, arguing that while the professional relationship between the estranged Sussex’s and the rest of the Royal Family was likely irreconcilable, the former entity could still be patched up. But he said any form of coming back together would be difficult if Harry and Meghan continued to try to “monetise their story as they see it”.
Asked if there is “any way back” for Harry and Meghan, Mr Palmer said: “It is very hard to see a way back for them all.
“If I was working for them, I would be trying to find a way to smooth a path towards some sort of reconciliation.
“I mean clearly they do speak to each other as a family, certainly the King and Harry speak. In the past I have talked about how [the Royal Family] are able to draw a distinction between who they are as a family and who they are as a family firm.
“We saw, for example, the Queen having to make difficult decisions about Andrew for the sake of the firm but still keeping close to him as her son.
“I think it is still possible for them to reconcile as a family behind the scenes but very difficult for everybody concerned if Sussex’s modus operandi is to continue to try to monetise their story as they see it.”
Harry and Meghan are said to be planning to “reach out” to the Royal Family after the release of their documentary and the Prince’s tell-all memoir.
According to royal sources, the couple plan to mend their relationship with the working royals after the “inevitable furore” around their two projects has died down.
But other royal sources told MailOnline that they questioned how genuine such apparent desires for reconciliation are given the “revenge projects” they have published.
One royal source said; “The trouble is when it comes to the Sussexes and these revenge projects that they are so hell-bent on, people are asking when will enough be enough?
“It’s not unreasonable in the circumstances to ask whether they are even interested in repairing their relationships with the family.”
Another royal source said the documentary is being seen as a “declaration of war” by the Duke and Duchess.
Prince Harry has previously accused his father King Charles III of abandoning him both emotionally and financially, while Meghan accused the royals of racism and the Princess of Wales of making her cry during a pre-wedding bust-up.

Prince William and the Princess of Wales are currently in the US but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not expected to attend their environmental awards on Friday.
On the second day of the Waleses’ first overseas trip since the death of the Queen, the trailer for Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docu-series was released.
The one-minute film featured never-before-seen private photographs of the couple, who live in California, and in one section of the footage, Meghan appears to be wiping away tears while Harry sits and tilts his head right back, seemingly in distress.
A Kensington Palace spokesman reiterated comments made ahead of the trip that the Waleses would not be “distracted” by other things this week and their focus was on meeting communities and local people across Boston.
