Prince William tours JFK library with former President’s daughter

Prince William has been given a tour of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum as his Royal Tour of Boston ahead of the Earthshot Prize ceremony on Friday evening. Footage shows the Prince of Wales, dressed in a dark suit, walking along a red carpet through the library and museum alongside JFK’s daughter, US Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, who is wearing a long black dress. The pair are trailed by Ms Kennedy’s two children, Tatiana Schlossberg, 32, and Jack Schlossberg, 29.

Press cameras captured the moment the four walked down the corridor in the museum as they chatted away.

Ms Kennedy then brings Prince William’s attention to a photograph of her father.

The pair laugh and exchange conversation about the relic before moving onto the next attraction.

Earlier, the Prince appeared delighted to see the ambassador as she prepared to show him around the $20.8million (£17million) library and museum.

Founded in 1979 and located in the southeast sector of Boston, the building was named after the 35th President John F. Kennedy.

Ahead of the tour, Prince William was introduced to the 32-year-old Tatiana Schlossberg, who is an American journalist and author, who was dressed in a long red dress.

The ambassador also introduced the future King to Jack Schlossberg, who is a 29-year-old lawyer.

The library was closed to the public for the day in preparation for the arrival of the future King.

The building is located on a ten-acre park on the east coast within the city of Boston.

On the library website, its location is described as “overlooking the sea that John F Kennedy loved and [in] the city launched him to greatness”.

It is heralded as a “vibrant tribute to the life and times of JFK” and boasts a wealth of historical materials relating to mid-20th Century politics and the life of the former US President.

The museum will reopen on Saturday, though the Research Room, which Prince William will visit, will remain closed until Tuesday.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Boston for the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony, which will take place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway.

William’s environmental awards will see singer Billie Eilish lead a stellar entertainment line-up during a ceremony – dubbed the prince’s “world cup” moment – that aims to celebrate and scale up environmental solutions to repair the planet.

Organisers of Earthshot have implemented a number of green policies, from encouraging guests to dress sustainably, from wearing vintage clothing or recycling outfits for future use, to ensuring the plants and flowers on display are grown locally.

Celebrities will walk a green not red carpet, the same used for last year’s inaugural ceremony, and it will be recycled after the event, make-up used will be predominantly vegan or certified cruelty free and all the food served will be plant based.
