Everything Royal Family will do today as they mark anniversary of Queen’s death
Queen Elizabeth meets Liz Truss on September 6, 2022
The Royal Family are set to spend the day in poignant reflection as they commemorate Queen Elizabeth II on the one-year anniversary of her death.
On September 8 2022 the late Queen passed away peacefully at her Scottish home Balmoral in Aberdeenshire, at the age of 96, following a period of ill health.
Her son and heir King Charles was by her side, as was her daughter Princess Anne, while other members of the family travelled up to the estate, although sadly they did not get there in time to see her before she died.
Charles was able to spend some time with his mother in her last few hours, before he went foraging for mushrooms, no doubt finding solace in the beautiful surroundings, The Telegraph reports.
This year he and Queen Camilla have chosen to spend the day in a similar fashion at Balmoral, as he will mark the day quietly and privately.

His approach echoes that made by the late Queen herself every year on February 6, the anniversary of the death of her father King George VI, which she would spend privately at Sandringham, where he died.
The King has shared a touching message in honour of his “darling mama”, although he will not be making a public appearance to commemorate the occasion.
He said: “In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.

“I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”
He signed off the message, written on headed paper from Balmoral Castle, Charles R.
His Majesty also released an image of the late Queen, aged 42 in 1968, in a photograph taken at Buckingham Palace by famed royal photographer Cecil Beaton.
In it she is dressed in her mantle of dark blue velvet lined with white satin which she wore every year for the Service of the Order of the Garter held in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
The Prince and Princess of Wales will attend a small private service at St David’s Cathedral in Wales, where they will lead tributes to William’s grandmother.
William and Kate will then meet with members of the public who have been specially selected, some of whom met the Queen during her long life.
St David’s is understood to have been chosen because of the Queen’s unique connection with the cathedral, as she held the First Canon Cursal Stall in the Quire among the Cathedral Chapter.
She was also the first monarch to visit the building since the Reformation.
