Dominic Cummings told Boris to fire Matt Hancock over handling of pandemic
Dominic Cummings has told a committee that Health Secretary Matt Hancock should have been fired over 15 or 20 things during the pandemic.
The former senior aide told the Science and Technology Committee and Health and Social Care Committee today that Hancock had lied ‘on multiple occasions’ and said he had recommend to Boris Johnson he was fired.
When asked to rate Hancock’s performance as Health Secretary, he responded: ‘I think that the Secretary of State of Health should have been fired for at least 15, 20 things, including lying to everybody, in multiple occasions, in meeting after meeting in the cabinet room and publicly.’
Mr Cummings was then asked if he thought people should be worried about facing corporate manslaughter charges as a result.

He replied: ‘I don’t know about that because I don’t really know about what the laws are, but I think that there is no doubt many senior people performed far, far, disastrously below the standards the country has the right to expect.’
He then went on to name Hancock as ‘one of those people’, continuing: ‘I said repeatedly to the Prime Minister that he should be fired. So did the Cabinet Secretary, so did many other senior people’.
