Dog horror as SEAGULL snatches chihuahua from owner’s garden
Becca Hill’s teacup-sized pooch Gizmo disappeared from her home in Paignton, Devon, on Sunday afternoon. Her boyfriend witnessed the horrifying incident while he was hanging up laundry at the rear of the property. Ms Hill, 24, told Devon Live: “My partner was in the garden putting the washing out at the time and suddenly he saw it swoop down. It carried Gizmo a fair way as we couldn’t see him anymore.
“I have no idea if he was dropped or where he is now.”
Seagulls are known to be aggressive and there have been reports in the past of the birds overpowering small dogs and killing them.
Ms Hill said her six-year-old daughter has been left distraught by the incident.
In a candid Facebook post, she said the girl was feeling “really upset” and was “missing her dog”.
She wrote: “Please, please, please, anyone finds a chihuahua he’s mine, a seagull took him from my garden.
“Bottom of Maridon Road, Paignton. Have a really upset six-year-old missing her dog.”
Gizmo, who is four years old, is one of three chihuahuas Ms Hill owns.
She said she had heard of incidents where the tiny dogs are taken by birds but had not expected it to happen to her pet.
An appeal has been posted on Doglost.co.uk in a bid to trace Gizmo.
Ms Hill has enlisted the help of several people who are searching the area and handing out posters.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the dog is asked to call 07774 724797.
