‘Diana would be proud!’ Prince William’s new initiative shows he will be ‘excellent King’

Kate and Prince William are well known for their efforts and commitment to spreading awareness and starting a conversation on mental health. But the latest initiative launched by the Duke of Cambridge in collaboration with The Football Association, of which he is the president, has left many royal fans stunned – with many believing it strengthens up beliefs William will one day become an “excellent” King. Kensington Palace announced earlier today the launch of Heads Up – The FA For All, a project aiming to use the ever-growing popularity of football in the UK to “change the conversation around mental health”.

One royal fan praised Prince William for his latest effort and added his mother, late Princess Diana, would be proud of what he is doing.

They wrote: “Wonderful initiative. Helping people talk about their feelings and speaking out on their mental health is the next step in making a difference.

“Using sports is a great idea because of the amount of people that watch and take part.

“Great work. Your mother would be so proud of the work you and your wife do, William. Keep up the fantastic work.”

Others argued Prince William and Kate’s work is preparing them to become wonderful King and Queen.

They wrote: “Future King interests in his nation wellbeing. We are blessed to have you and Kate.”

Another said: “He will make an excellent King and Catherine will be an excellent Queen.

“A relatable and compassionate future King! Greetings from Canada.”

Upon launching the initiative, Prince William said: “Over the next year, leading up to the 2020 FA Cup final, we are going to use football’s biggest platform to get the country talking.

“A season-long campaign where we will be encouraging fans to talk about their mental health.

“Is part of everyday life.”

Kensington Palace described Heads Up on its official Instagram account saying in a statement: “This Sunday’s FA Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City will kick-off the #HeadsUp campaign, a season of activities aimed at driving the biggest ever conversation on mental health.”

“Heads Up – launched by The Football Association and @heads_together, and spearheaded by The Duke of Cambridge – will harness the influence and popularity of football to help show the nation that we all have mental health, and it is just as important as physical health.

“The campaign will strive to raise awareness, spark conversation and signpost support for those in need.

“Take a look at out Story or visit the link in our bio to find out.

“If a fan wants immediate support, they can also text ‘HeadsUp’ to 85258 to connect with a trained @giveusashoutinsta crisis volunteer, who will chat to them by text message, sharing only what feels comfortable, and help them through the moment, working together on a plan for longer-term support.”
