During the Channel 5 documentary ‘Beatrice and Eugenie: Pampered Princesses?’ royal commentators Tom Quinn and Angela Levin discussed Beatrice’s reaction to finding out about the News of the World story in 2010. Ms Levin stated that Princess Beatrice was unhappy and traumatised for days.
Mr Quinn said: “Beatrice was at a party held by Naomi Campbell.
“She just kept asking her mother, how did this happen?
“They left the party immediately and effectively went into hiding, knowing that once again her mother’s reputation was about to be completely trashed.”
Ms Levin added: “Beatrice admitted that she spent several days crying.
“One of her friends went and stayed with her overnight for two days because she was so traumatised and unhappy.”
The controversial 2010 story recorded the Duchess of York discussing finances in exchange for access to Prince Andrew.
Sarah Ferguson addressed the incident in a statement: “I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment caused.
“It is true that my financial situation is under stress however, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that this has happened”.

During the same documentary, royal commentator Katie Nicholl discussed Prince Charles’ decision to snub Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie as working royals.
Although the Princesses holding HRH titles, they were not working royals, despite Prince Andrew’s insistence.
The royal commentator added that the decision caused tension between Prince Andrew and Prince Charles.
Ms Nicholl said: “Charles made his vision for a streamlined monarchy really very clear around the time of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

“When he did, that was a big issue for Andrew.
“Andrew’s view was that they had the HRH titles therefore they are blood princesses.”
The royal commentator continued: “Therefore they should be full-time working members of the Royal Family.
“It didn’t pan out that way and that definitely caused tension between the royal brothers, Charles and Andrew.”
