Archie Harrison: How Baby Sussex will be first ever royal to do THIS

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are new parents to baby Archie Harrison and have so far kept him out of the spotlight. Even Archie’s christening is planned to be a private affair – held in the Queen’s private chapel in the inner sanctum at Windsor Castle. The young royal will soon set a royal first, however, as he embarks on travels with his mum and dad.

Archie will become the youngest royal ever to go on tour when he sets off with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to South Africa.

The Sussex’s will embark on a two-week long visit to South Africa this autumn at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

The exact date of the trip is unknown, but predictions are so far placing it in October.

This would make Archie the first five-month-old to make official appearances during a royal tour.

The Cambridge children have also toured the world, but not at such a young age.

It was the first visit for mum Kate too, who had not travelled to either of the countries before that visit.

This was for an eight-day tour of Canada, and the young royals were seen on three occasions.

Looking further back, Prince Harry was eight months old for his first royal tour, visiting Italy with Princess Diana, Prince Charles and older brother Prince William in 1985.

One cute snap taken during the visit showed Harry in his mother’s arms on the deck of the Royal Yacht Britannia in Venice.

And Prince William also set a precedent, being the first royal baby to go on an official overseas trip with his parents.

He too was just nine months old when he joined Prince Charles and Princess Diana on a six-week visit to Australia and New Zealand.

William flying out for his first royal trip was at the request of Diana, and this was also Diana’s first foreign tour.

Princess Anne also visited Malta in 1954 with Charles and their parents when she was just four-years-old.
