'Accidental' death of 102-year-old man trapped on roof for three days
Ron Easton, a former racing driver known as “Ton-Up Ron”, died in hospital on 2 November last year.
His death came nine days after he was rescued from the roof of his house, in Bigbury-on-Sea, Devon, which he had scaled with a bucket of tools to adjust his TV aerial.
Evidence indicated he had developed hypothermia and become dangerously dehydrated after falling and getting stuck.
A friend called 999 after spotting unopened milk bottles outside his home.
Mr Easton was found lying face down on a garden rake, with the tools next to him.
Local police described him as a “local legend” when they announced his death.
The coroner’s court heard the death was “unusual in circumstance”.
