But Peter O’Neill’s tan from a week in Dubai gave him away.

Despite promising Sarah Burgess his glow was from a sunbed, the new mum turned detective to nail the love rat.

And, after finding loved-up snaps from the break on another woman’s Facebook, she dumped the cheat, 40.

Sarah, 23, said: “I know I’m well rid of him but I’ll never believe the cheek of him waltzing in to see his new son, after going awol for days, complete with a glowing tan.”

Sarah was swept off her feet by Peter when they first met while dog walking.

“But when I called his mum she said he was busy with work.”

Sarah was racked with anxiety as the pair hadn’t even argued before Peter’s flit.

A few days later, she was pottering around at home when suddenly her waters broke – nine days early.

Sarah said: “I couldn’t believe it. The stress of Peter’s week-long disappearing act must have caused me to go into early labour.”

After rushing to hospital with her mum, she gave birth to little Joseph – without Peter by her side.

Three days later the missing man finally turned up – with a tan.

Sarah said: “He just said to me, ‘Sorry babe, my phone broke and I was busy with work and stuff’.

“And I said, ‘Too busy to check in with the mother of your child?’”

When she quizzed Peter about his glow, he said he’d been using a sunbed – and Sarah was won round when she saw him tenderly cuddle Joseph.

But Sarah’s nagging doubt would not go away.

So she turned to social media and trawled through every woman on Peter’s friends list.

Finally, she clicked on one woman and found multiple photos with Peter, in Dubai.

Sarah said: “Peter hadn’t gone missing – he’d been on holiday with another woman. Desert rat!”

Sarah messaged the other woman, who told her she’d been seeing him since before they had hooked up.

The love rival had no idea about Sarah or the baby.

Peter admitted the truth when Sarah confronted him and she ditched him there and then.

Sarah added: “Joseph and I couldn’t be happier and I’m moving on without that rat.”

Peter said: “I was with Nicola, I split with Nicola.

“Then I bumped into Sarah, slept with Sarah, then about a week or so later I got back with Nicola.

“But I was never in a relationship with Sarah.”
