Ultra-rare £2.5m Ferrari that’s one of only 400 ever made caught in horror crash

An ultra-rare Ferrari that's one of the rarest cars in the world has been smashed up in a horror crash on a dual carriageway.

The watering incident happened in Jersey at 11.30am on Thursday (September 29).

The model, named after Ferrari's founder Enzo, is worth around £2.5 million and there were only 400 ever made.

The collision took place on Victoria Avenue with a somewhat less expensive Honda Jazz worth less than £5,000.

The dual carriageway was closed and emergency services were on the scene for several hours with Jersey Police urging motorists to avoid the area.

The Jersey Evening Post reported a witness saying: "The Ferrari Enzo was heading towards town, past the traffic lights next to the TrustFord garage, and came crashing over the central reservation, spinning around.

"The Ferrari then span across the westbound carriage and landed in its position on the path of the lay-by, outside Vinny’s cafe."

The Ferrari has a top speed of around 215 miles-per-hour and is equipped with F1 race car tech.

The car is thought to be registered in nearby Guernsey.

The road where the crash happened is a 40 zone, though it remains unclear how fast the car was going.

The Enzo seems to have skidded half off the road with significant force with both its rear wheels seen both pointing the wrong way while its rear bumper was also seen hanging off and the airbag triggered.

No one was thought to be injured in the incident, but an elderly driver was taken to A&E as a precaution.

There are unconfirmed reports the car en route to be delivered to its new owner, who will presumably be less than pleased.

Jersey Police said on Facebook: 'We are currently dealing with a two-vehicle RTC on Victoria Avenue, please avoid the area and use alternative routes."

One person on social media commented: "It’s not everyday you get to see a £3 million pound super car written off especially in Jersey. Poor Enzo."

Another wrote: "I hope this driver of a Ferrari Enzo has a few quid in the bank… That’s not going to be cheap, why oh why do people drive these cars in Jersey."
