Trump golf club cancels charity tournament where strippers were going to be the caddies

MIAMI — President Donald Trump’s company said Wednesday it has canceled a golf tournament with strippers serving as caddies that was to be held at Trump’s golf resort near Miami.

The Washington Post reports the Trump Organization issued a statement saying the event would no longer take place because a children’s charity that was to benefit from it had pulled out. The statement said “all amounts paid will be refunded.”

The Shadow All Star Tournament was organized by a Hialeah strip club, Shadow Cabaret. The club had advertised on Facebook and its website that the event would be held Saturday at Trump National Doral.

The tournament offered golfers a choice of dancers to be their “caddy girl.”

Shadow Cabaret’s marketing director Emanuele Mancuso had said there would be no nudity at the resort. After the tournament, golfers and dancers were to go to a different venue for a burlesque show.

A Trump Organization statement to the Washington Post said funds raised by the tournament were to go to the Miami All Stars charity.

However, the organization’s director, Carlos Alamilla, told the Associated Press that he withdrew Wednesday because he wasn’t aware a strip club was involved.

Taylor Swift Throws Some Shade At Scooter Braun In Her Prime Day Concert

Given a worldwide audience via her exclusive concert for Amazon Prime members to celebrate “Prime Day,” Taylor Swift took the opportunity for some payback on recent career developments.

Swift recently admitted she was “grossed out” when she learned that manager Scooter Braun had purchased her former label, Big Machine. That meant he controlled her master recordings on her early works. Swift felt she was “bullied” by Braun, something the manager has vehemently denied. The back and forth on the issue has consumed the music and entertainment press over the last few weeks.

Tonight, Swift took the opportunity to underline her grievances. Although there were no overt disses, fans thought there was no mistaking who she meant when she warned with a shout about getting down with the “liars and dirty, dirty cheats of the world” in her preamble to “Shake It Off.”

The Amazon concert, the first-of-its-kind, was held in New York. Jane Lynch hosted, with additional performances by Dua Lipa, SZA and Becky G. Amazon used the occasion to provide peeks of upcoming original series, including Carnival Row and Modern Love.

The show will be available for a limited time for on-demand viewing by Prime Video members.

An Arizona driver escaped injuries but was taken into custody after a cactus plummeted through his car windshield Wednesday.

The driver, whose identity has not been released, was crossing a median in Tucson when he hit a cactus, Pima County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Jelineo said.

The saguaro cactus splintered on impact and the part that broke off ended up partially inside the black sports car, breaking through the windshield and jutting out onto the hood of the vehicle.

Jelineo said deputies detained and arrested the driver after observing signs that he was impaired.

Claudia Figueroa of AZ Cactus Experts, a company that sells, straightens, removes and prunes cacti, told KSAZ the driver was lucky he wasn't killed.

"I saw the picture. That was so bad," she told the station. "I have never seen something like that before, but that can kill the person that was driving, and yea, they don't have to be too big to cause a lot of damage. That one right there, it could be one ton or 1,000 pounds."

Sandra Bullock Speaks Up For Equal Pay For Women’s Soccer Team At 2019 ESPYS

Add Sandra Bullock to the growing list of voices calling for equal pay for the US Women’s National Soccer team.

Appearing at the 2019 ESPYS in Los Angeles to present the “Best Team” award, Bullock spoke out in favor of the women, who are paid less than the men’s national team despite back-to-back World Cup wins.

“All those in favor of equal pay, say I,” Bullock said, then handed the mic over to two-time World Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist, and Rutgers alum Carli Lloyd.

Lloyd and co-captain Megan Rapinoe made short remarks, but show host Tracy Morgan kept the flame burning in his closing remarks.

“Let’s pay these ladies and let’s fight cancer,” he said.

The US Women’s players have filed a federal lawsuit against the US Soccer Federation over pay. Their recent victory at the World Cup has fueled an outcry over the disparity, leading at least one politician to threaten to withhold funds in support of the upcoming men’s World Cup.
