Retired NYPD cop shoots thief in Bronx home
This guy tried to rob the wrong woman.
A retired NYPD officer shot an alleged thief after he tried to mug her and chased her into her Bronx home, The Post has learned.
The 63-year-old former cop was standing outside her home on Noble Avenue in Soundview just after 1:15 a.m. Wednesday when Michael Carter tried to rob her, according to police and sources.
The 33-year-old ignored the woman when she told him to back up — then chased her into her house as she tried to run away, police said.
Carter allegedly pushed the woman up against a wall and ran her around the house threatening her with a black cable box, cops said.
The former cop then pulled her licensed .38 revolver and shot Carter once in the thigh — detaining the man until cops arrived, according to sources.
Carter was taken to Jacobi Hospital for treatment and charged with robbery and burglary, cops said.
The former cop was treated at Einstein Hospital for tinnitus, according to sources.
