Prince Harry spotted in ‘dressed down’ look volunteering for charity in LA

Prince Harry has been praised as "humble and kind" after volunteering for a non-profit foundation which helps veterans and their families.

He was spotted in a "dressed down" look helping out at an event organised by the Walker Family Events Foundation (WFEF) in Compton, California.

The organisation, which offers Covid-19 support for veterans and their families, confirmed the royal, 36, had volunteered five days ago.

The Duke of Sussex, who now lives in Montecito, California with wife Meghan Markle, helped pack and distribute food for its Operation Nourish programme.

He cut a casual figure in jeans, a baseball cap, a grey polo shirt and trainers.

Harry also wore a black face covering as he inspected packages of food lined up on tables.

The foundation posted photos of him at the volunteering drive.

In an Instagram post, it wrote: "Today I had the honour of meeting and working alongside Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.

"He joined us in volunteering at Compton VFW for the weekly Operation Nourish program packing and distributing food to our #Compton neighbours. He is very humble and kind."

The organisation also describes itself as helping "at-risk communities".

This event took place a short drive away from where Meghan, 39, grew up in the View Park-Windsor Hills area of Los Angeles.

Her mum Doria still lives in the neighbourhood.

Harry and Meghan recently visited the Los Angeles National Cemetery to mark Remembrance Sunday and lay flowers on the graves of two Commonwealth soldiers.

But the couple came under fire over the visit, after they took a photographer along with them.

Critics accused the pair of turning it into a publicity stunt.
