A policeman has reportedly killed two people before taking his own life at a home in The Netherlands.

Police launched a huge operation after the shooting at a property in Dordrecht.

According to local media reports, the victims were family members, although it is unknown whether they were related to the officer.

A fourth person was said to have been seriously injured in the attack.

Up to 15 police cars, ambulances and a force helicopter were called to the address, which is in a residential area and close to a primary school.

The city’s mayor Wouter Kolff said on Twitter: ‘Earlier tonight a very serious shooting incident occurred in Dordrecht.

‘I am very touched and sympathise enormously with everyone involved. The police are investigating the shooting.’

The city is around 15 miles from the port of Rotterdam.

Police said emergency response teams remain at the scene to treat victims and investigate the shooting.
